Jonah Hauser-King is our Prince Eric

The British actor is heading under the sea.

Well, it’s been a long journey, but we finally have our Prince Eric. After what feels like an eternity of rumors and false-starts, Jonah Hauser-King has landed the highly sought-after role as one of Disney’s more iconic princes in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

Who exactly is Jonah Hauser-King? I asked the same thing. Hauser-King is a British actor whose previous credits include films like The Last Photograph and A Dog’s Way Home and the televisions series Howard’s End and the BBC’s 2017 Little Women. He’s also slated to appear alongside Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale in the upcoming drama film Once Upon a Time in Staten Island.

More importantly, he apparently has some serious singing chops.

Hauser-King will join a cast which includes Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Jacob Trembley as Flounder, and Hamilton star Daveed Diggs as Sebastian the crab. Javier Bardem is reportedly in talks to play King Triton.

The Little Mermaid is slated to begin production in early 2020.
