They say marriage changes a man and Justin Bieber is living proof—although not in the way fans may have hoped. In recent years the erstwhile bad boy of pop has courted more than his fair share of trouble, from brawling at club to partaking in illegal drag racing. And while he and Hailey Bieber née Baldwin's courthouse marriage last September signaled hope of a professional renaissance, his role as a doting husband (and future doting father?) seems to have only reinforced his comfortable distance from his prince-of-pop throne—a duty, as he revealed in an Instagram post yesterday, took a toll on his mental state.

After copping to a lackluster performance on his most recent tour, Bieber shared that he spent a large portion of his career and young adult life merely going through the motions. Rather than pumping out an album or new tunes just for the hell-of-it, the 25-year-old singer would rather better himself and then make his return.

But as conversations about Bieber tend to do, the singer's musical hail Mary eventually turned to his romantic past. In a screenshot of his post's comments section, Bieber called out an apparent Selena Gomez stan account for badmouthing his union with Hailey, spurring fans to do the same. "Stop sending [H]ailey and I these messages if you love me," he wrote over his vehement retort.

While no further commentary was offered about his hinting of fatherhood, Bieber is known to want children one day. In a similarly themed mea culpa from 2017, he included a line that positioned hypothetical fatherhood as a motivator for cleaning up his act. It seems clear that, prince of pop or not, Bieber will have a follow-up to his breakout hit "Baby"—maybe in the form of a kid with Hailey.
