As of late, gender fluidity has become one of fashion’s trendiest social and political statements. The influx of commentary on gender on the runway, amid the current political climate in America and abroad, furthermore, illustrates the importance of inclusivity. While many designers taking the plunge to defy the rules of gender are new to the game, for Jonathan Anderson of JW Anderson, it's definitely not his first gender-bending rodeo. The Ireland-born designer has addressed issues of gender norms long before the rest. Trailblazing in 2012 with a collection featuring male models sporting “traditionally female” silhouettes, the brand aided in genderless dressing’s integration into high fashion. Arguably, this makes Jonathan Anderson one of the founding fathers of mainstream gender fluidity and for JW Anderson SS20, he takes another stab at it.

Giving the guys (and girls) everything they needed and more, JW Anderson’s SS20 runway delivers gender fluidity at its most luxurious. Showcasing his signature knitwear technique that put him on the map along with a keen eye for tailoring; designer Jonathan Anderson sends a wave of male models cascading down the runway in cashmere sleeveless T-length dresses, cinched-waist trench dresses, and a slew of off the shoulder tops.
