Following the massive success of the YEEZY Season 3 launch at the MSG listening party for The Life of Pablo, elite fashion editors and streetwear stans alike pondered exactly how Kanye West would try to top his past releases. With NYFW runway shows to commemorate the Season 4 and 5 launches, though, it seemed like Kanye had embedded himself in fashion's mainstream release rotation. That is, until this season, which has seen a distinctly new marketing strategy for YEEZY Season 6, and one that could only be launched by someone in Kanye's rare position.

The philosophy: Why not take advantage of the millions of eyeballs pointed hourly at images of his wife, Kim Kardashian, whose likeness is certifiably iconic?

Specifically, Kanye West has debuted his latest apparel collection by simply asking Kim to step out in head-to-toe Season 6 garments, turning run-of-the-mill paparazzi into unpaid fashion photogs and using Instagram as a mobile billboard that lives in everyone's pocket. He's even displayed unretouched iPhone pictures of Kim wearing the new kits as the only model shots on yeezysupply.com.

Season 6 apparel keeps in line with the roomier top silhouettes seen in past seasons, but does away with the generously baggy trouser trend in favor of a more tailored, yet not-exactly-slim fit.

Kim's even flexed in the all-new Yeezy Mud Rat 500's, pre-orders of which are already sold out online. Interestingly enough, the Mud Rats were only ever available in a bundle with a Season 6 hoodie and matching sweatshorts, which sends two distinct messages: the collection pieces are intended to be worn together as a full kit, and more importantly, that Kanye will no longer be handfeeding bot-wielding resellers who profit from Yeezy designs without giving back to fashion culture in a meaningful way.

All this strategy innovation goes to show that Kanye West is far from tired of reinventing himself while pushing forward every industry he dips his toes in. Whether you like (or even care) about Kanye and Kim as individuals, it's clear that they've mastered the art of digital influencing, and that they're willing to leverage their ardent online stan-bases to springboard new collections into the style stratosphere.
