To say the models that walked down the Lazoschmidl runway yesterday evening looked like they had come straight down from heaven would be an understatement. Appropriate, given that the brand’s FW18 show was dubbed “Angel.” Though Andreas Schmidl and Josef Lazo have always celebrated an ethereal male eroticism, this time around the look was a little cleaner, a little softer and a little more innocent (as innocent as one can look, while wearing cut out tighty-whities or leather pants).

The show notes said the collection offered garments “for an imaginary boy band,” but this was not the frosted tips and tacky coordinated looks we remember from our youth. The Lazoschmidl boy band is all sheer fabrics, head-to-toe velour and splashed in glitter (and the odd crappy stick and poke tattoo). It’s endlessly sensual, endlessly desirable and a little bit melancholic.

As always, the boys presented a fantasy and, as always, they proved they’re one of (if not the) most singular and interesting designers at Stockholm Fashion Week. If these are clothes for an imaginary boy band, it’s definitely the boy band we wish we had grown up listening to.
