Just before his death in November last year, prolific singer-songwriter and poet Leonard Cohen finished compiling what will be his final book of poems, The Flame, which has just received its release date: October 2018.

Writing was Cohen's first career before turning to music in the late '60s; his first book Let Us Compare Mythologies was published in 1956, more than a decade before his first album Songs of Leonard Cohen was released in 1967.

Returning to his first love, Cohen's former manager Robert Kory said that finishing the book was one of Cohen's main objectives before his passing, a compilation of unpublished poems and selections from his bountiful notebooks that comment on "the flame and how our culture threatened its extinction." The Flame will also include the complete lyrics from Cohen's three final albums, Old Ideas, Popular Problems, and You Want It Darker.

Until then, to honor the late singer's legacy, Lana Del Rey, Elvis Costello, and Sting among others will perform at "Tower of Song: A Memorial Tribute to Leonard Cohen" on the anniversary of his death, followed soon after by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montreal's new exhibition, "Leonard Cohen: A Crack in Everything."
