Lil Yachty To Launch ‘YachtyCoin’

The rapper’s cryptocurrency will be available to fans outside the US.

Grammy-nominated rapper Lil Yachty is about to join artists like Akon, Nas, and The Game in the realm of cryptocurrency. The 23-year-old announced his own “YachtyCoin,” an Ethereum-based token that will be available on the Switzerland-based app Fyooz. The company works with “Star Tokens,” cryptocurrencies attached to artists and influencers’ names that allow fans to become sort of investors in their idols’ careers.

“I partnered with Fyooz to make history,” Yachty tweeted in November. “If you want to buy access to me #YachtyCoin is coming soon.” Fans will be able to use the token to purchase the artist’s work and other goods, in addition to exclusive privileges. With nearly 20 million followers across social media and over 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify, the rapper is the biggest influencer to join the platform so far – which will probably give him a big advantage considering the token price fluctuates according to the demand for an artist

Yachty had already talked about his interest in the stock and cryptocurrency markets in a 2018 interview, where he also revealed he used to deal in Bitcoin before he became a rapper. “I was talking to Akon, I had a meeting with a company about the whole crypto thing,” he told VladTV at the time. “I just want to learn about [it].”

In a statement published on Fyooz’s Medium page, co-founder and co-CEO Remo Prinz celebrated Lil Yachty’s entry on the platform. “We are very excited to welcome Lil Yachty as a pioneering voice for this new generation, the face of cool and the sound of rhyme,” he said.

The token will be available in 136 jurisdictions via the Fyooz App. The company has yet to announce an official launch date for YachtyCoin, but fans are already hyped about it. “Can’t wait to buy your tokens fella!,” someone tweeted

Lil Yachty has recently released “Lil Boat 3.5,” the deluxe edition of his fourth studio album.
