There is always a spark festering in every ballad that singer, songwriter Sam Smith releases, and most recently, his latest single "Burning" is fully-fledged flames turned to fire.

On Thursday, Oct. 26, Smith shared "Burning," the latest single off his upcoming album The Thrill of it All ahead of the full-length's release this Friday, Nov. 3. The track, following up his other singles "Pray" and "Too Good at Goodbyes," is just as dramatic following a poignant piano, but takes Smith into an extremely confessional trajectory with an intimate composition divulging his painful experience in dealing with the demise of a relationship.

In speaking to BBC Radio upon the song's premiere, he revealed "Burning" is not only his favorite on the new record, but the "most personal song I've ever written in my life" - its stark honesty shown through its deep lyrics like, "I've been burning / yes, I've been burning / such a burden, this flame on my chest." Through a strong chorus led by Smith's soaring vocals over pristine, simplistic keys, as well as a unifying build towards the outro of the track before it falls to solely the artist's vocals once again, a fire just keeps on "Burning" in the track.

Listen to "Burning" below before Smith's follow up to 2014's In the Lonely Hour, The Thrill of it All, is released on Friday.
