Loafers Are A Modern Man’s Necessity

Wear for either business or pleasure.

Just this week, actor Jacob Elordi was spotted gallivanting about in a pair of white Saint Laurent loafers. He paired the fresh kicks with white tube socks, blue striped pants, and a printed pullover, making for an all around dashing look. It got us thinking that perhaps it was time to stress the importance of having loafers in your closet. Yes, the trend has been around a while, but damn if it’ll ever go away as long as I have something to say about it (I don’t, but just trust me anyway)! Loafers are a staple piece of footwear and it’s never to late to invest in your first, or even second, pair. So it’s winter? Throw on some heavy socks and keep it going. Here are a few of our favorites.

Gucci Jordan Leather Loafer ($830)

Let’s begin with what is perhaps the most recognizable loafer on the market. Gucci, with their storied history of equestrianism, made this horsebit loafer a classic what seemed like overnight. But, some things are trendy for a reason. This shoe is as versatile as it gets.

Saint Laurent Le Loafer Monogram Penny Slippers ($695)

These are, of course, the white shoes that sparked this article, a la Jacob Elordi. They are sure to liven up any outfit, and pair well with other white pieces, as Elordi has demonstrated.

Brooks Brothers 1818 Leather Tassel Loafers ($278.58 GBP)

A tassel is a great way to give your loafers a fun little twist. These Italian shoes have a refined cognac color and can be worn for either business or pleasure.

Jack Erwin Howard ($225)

This venetian loafer is both refined and relaxed. It features a subtle toe box and apron toe stitching. It is also handcrafted in Portugal.

G.H. Bass & Co. Weejuns Larson Penny Loafer (£140)

While this shoe may not be as business casual as the others, it is certainly loads of fun. Bust these pairs out when you want to look your most dapper on a morning walk or in an Instagram pic.

Joseph Cheaney & Sons Hadley Penny Loafer (£316.67)

Going back to business, this loafer is meant to be dressed up and kept forever. If you were to wear it out, Cheaney offers a full refurbishment service.

Dr. Martens Adrian Leather Tassle Loafers ($130)

Dr. Martens may be a streetwear brand, but they are known for the durability of their footwear. One pair of Dr. Martens can last a lifetime, and they’re cute to boot. These tassel loafers come with an elevated sole for a less buttoned-up look.

Artemis Design Co. Sumak Kilim Loafers ($268)

These slip-ons come in a wide variety of patterns, all handmade from vintage, hand-sourced Turkish carpets. No two pairs are alike and yet they are all to die for.

Nisolo Alejandro Slip On ($160)

Casual and minimalistic, these slip-on shoes are sure to become a favorite for running out and staying in. They are also handcrafted in an ethical factory in León, Mexico.

Crockett & Jones Boston ($560)

Sick of leather, this suede option is just as refined as any other loafer. It would also look great with your coziest winter socks.
