Louis Vuitton Announces New Capsule Collection and Trophy Case with the NBA

The fashion house continues its partnership with the basketball association to bring a travel-centered collection and trophy case to the luxury market.

Louis Vuitton and the National Basketball Association are back for a third drop. After starting their partnership in 2020 under the aegis of Virgil Abloh, the fashion house and basketball association celebrate the values of basketball through a luxury lens. For the third drop, Louis Vuitton and the NBA center the collection around travel. Dedicated to luggage, the new collection celebrates team spirit, camaraderie, and universality, values that Abloh held dear.

The Christopher backpack, Keepall 55, Dopp Kit, and Pocket Organizer all find their way into the drop. A new watch case that can store eight watches and the Malle Courrier exceptionally join the aforementioned pieces. Both pieces come in NBA colors for the first time. A Monogram-embossed electric blue Taurillon leather displays a new LV signature in the shape of a basketball makes up the designs for all pieces. The combination of red, blue and white makes the NBA logo a seamless addition.

Iconic motifs, such as a basketball net, reinforce the influence of the legendary sport. Gold chains and metal details serve as a nod to the famous NBA trophy. The contagious and inspiring energy of  basketball is engrained into the range of Louis Vuitton luggage.

To solidify the relationship between the two partners, Louis Vuitton creates a new Official Travel Trunk for the NBA’s Larry O’Brien Trophy. As the pinnacle of basketball achievement, there is no better way to show the respect the fashion house has for basketball. Artisans at the fashion house’s legendary Asnières atelier hand-crafted the trunk to protect the trophy. The trunk features an exterior covered in emblematic Monogram canvas with brass closures and fittings. The interior features soft microfiber and sports the NBA’s 75th Anniversary logo. The folding doors are hand-painted with a V for victory in the red, white, and blue of the NBA logo. The Maison’s initials find their way into the basketball logo, presenting a symbol of Louis Vuitton’s association with the league.

The 2022 NBA Trophy Case joins a list of Louis Vuitton bespoke travel cases. From the FIFA World Cup to the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco, the new trunk further proves that “Victory travels in Louis Vuitton.”
