Louis Vuitton Debuts NIGO x Virgil Abloh Collaboration: LV²

The French fashion house finds a sartorial partnership with the Japanese streetwear legend.

In December, Louis Vuitton sent the internet into a frenzy with a teaser hinting at an upcoming collaboration between artistic director Virgil Alboh and NIGO. As fan speculations have circulated across social media and discussion forms, the collection’s final product is still likely to surprise all those who took guesses on what to expect. Informed by a fusion of denim and upscaled tailoring, the collaborative Pre-Fall 2020 menswear range calls upon NIGO’s legacy for a sartorial selection that defines the contemporary Louis Vuitton man.

The collection, titled “LV²,” a name proposed by NIGO in honor of the dual design approach partaken by the visionaries,, is the House’s most extensive exploration with one of Japan’s streetwear legends. On his relationship with NIGO, Abloh fondly explains, “Me being at Louis Vuitton is directly attributable to work Nigo’s done in the past. A collab project with him—it puts his work in the right context.” Reworking Louis Vuitton motifs into NIGO’s denim hats and pants, Abloh melds his empowered connection with the seasoned designer in a collection enjoyed across the globe.
