Louis Vuitton’s Fall-Winter 2025 Men’s Pre-Collection fittingly begins in Paris (aka the French fashion house’s palatial HQ), and only in the city of light, does the first chapter commence.

Following the modern traveler — say, the one vacationing via yacht or sports car — Men’s Creative Director, Pharrell Williams, traces a wardrobe rooted in certain cross-continental voyage traditions. At a time when the average luxury ocean liner consisted of plush lounges, ornate dining halls, and formal dances ensuring passengers remained entertained, dressing to the nines was the cruise-ship norm.

So when the boat leaves the city, Louis Vuitton not only stays true to its dashing dandy core, but it remains loyal to the luxury liner etiquette of golden age lore. The collection opens with the transit wardrobe: classic sportswear, relaxed tailoring, refined loungewear, and graphic nods at naval iconography. Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things inescapably comes to mind.

With this collection, Williams debuts the Monogram Regatta print, a pattern of tiny boats that serve as the season’s emblematic motif. The miniature fleets decorate a blue and white nylon windbreaker and chambray shorts. Collarless sailing jackets and striped knitwear reference time-honored naval codes, while the three-piece dandy suit pays respect to the form-fitted Jazz Age silhouettes. For the voyage, the Monogram takes on multiple forms, embossed on a leather track blouson, swathed on a cotton-denim workwear suit, and coated in crystal all over a burgundy jumper and black hoodie.

The arrival wardrobe follows, this time much more acclimated to the beach and pool culture characteristic of Miami Beach. As the lines between day and loungewear blur, lounge and pool attire are elevated into daywear and painted in the pastels of the city’s sun-drenched skies. Bowling sets are rendered in playfully lavish aqua and pink silk, as Monogram Glow motifs highlight pyjama suits in khaki and magenta.

Resort-centric designs are exemplified in a Breton-striped blue and white polo shirt and in mixed Bengal-striped shirts with matching trousers, shorts, and swim shorts. The raffia palm tree, the primordial form of the earthy natural fiber dominating this year’s summer wardrobes, lends its beachy tone to a collarless jacket and washed black chambray denim set with raffia detailing. Even the Louis Vuitton Damier squares are embroidered with raffia, as seen on a sheer beige t-shirt.

Cruise-line and hotel environments inform Louis Vuitton’s selection of leather goods. The Monogram Heritage motif expands in naval-inspired off-white or light blue canvas bags, adorned with hotel key charms. A Damier Denim 3D pattern in sun-bleached indigo envelopes LV icons — the Montsouris Cargo Backpack, the Cargo Keepall, and the Nevereverfull.

A Speedy P9 30 in black suede brandishes a hand-embroidered crystal Monogram, and a dolphin-shaped bag in Monogram Canvas is fixed with gaudy pearl eyes. The collection’s bags also feature a pool ring bag, a boccia bag with matching balls, and a champagne cooler in white crockery. You’ll never catch a bona fide dandy playing boccia without a glass of bubbly in hand.

A pearl-buttoned denim baseball cap, a sailor beret embellished with rope trims and pinstripes, and a bucket hat crafted from heat-transformable yarn are of the collection’s headwear standouts. Further leading the accessories department, silk bandanas and cotton stoles in paisley or Heritage Monogram accompany silk squares adorned with the Monogram Glow, while silver-plated metal chains and bracelets evoke the thick weave of ship ropes.

Beach-centric raffia makes another appearance in the LV Easy mule and the LV Major loafer, as the pre-collection’s shoe lineup continues to draw on the spirit of the transatlantic dandy. The LV Scala, crafted in black glazed leather, now features a version with a raffia camp, and the super soft LV Traveller slipper (inspired by those offered in hotels) comes in classic leather Monogram, as well as beige or light blue suede.
