Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall/Winter 2021 Collection Releases a Spin-Off with BTS

Louis Vuitton Brand Ambassadors BTS star in the brand’s Fall/Winter 2021 spin-off film showcasing new looks.

Louis Vuitton Men’s Creative Director Virgil Abloh presented a spin-off collection of the Men’s Fall/Winter 2021 Collection that featured 34 new looks, as well as an artistic film featuring boyband and Louis Vuitton brand ambassadors BTS.

The latest looks within the collection continue to take inspiration from the art of voyage and travel as well as James Baldwin’s essay Stranger in the Village. The spin-offs of the collection contribute to these themes, but also expand on them, creating a new essence of their own.

Filmed in Seoul and directed by Korean director Jeon Go-Woon, the film began with narration as the setting of the scenes was displayed at different angles. The film then went on to follow each BTS member wearing various looks from the collection. The goal of the film was to set a conversation about space, movement, and global connectivity central to our moment in time.

Various textures and classy silhouettes compose the newer looks, following the theme of the original collection yet expanding on its journey.

Color palettes of bold greens and terracottas pair together well in full suits as well as draped coats.

Swanky overcoats ranging from fur to denim in trench style or blazers sat atop various hoodies or striped button-ups, combining leisure and business together.

The film also showcased these business elements, as many looks were portrayed with a coffee cup or briefcase in hand, tying back to the way that Louis Vuitton aimed to redefine how our minds “identify archetypical wardrobes which are tied to societal presumptions.” Through extreme elevation, the collection redefines “normal.”

The collaboration between Virgil Abloh and BTS allowed the collection to be portrayed in an ethereal way, allowing the glamour and luxury of the garments to shine through all while allowing the art film to be portrayed in a defined and artistic way.
