Following up on its multi-faceted installation in Miami's Design District at the end of last year, Louis Vuitton and its Men's Artistic Director Virgil Abloh are back with another message — to "investigate the mundane dress codes of an establishment in evolution" in their new Pre-Fall 2021 range. As inclusivity is starting to take over the spot that inclusivity had a monopoly over for quite a while, Abloh continues to study the luxury of normalcy and what conforming to that state of being 'normal' means in post-2020 society.

Underpinning old codes with new values, the collection portrays the comfort of progressive conventionality inclusive to all: back-to-work tailoring expressed in boxy silhouettes; suits daubed in tie-dye galaxy monogram print; caban restructured with an asymmetrical monogram leather panel; a peacoat embossed with a techy Louis Vuitton logo along the sleeve. New takes on suiting are introduced in hooded or zipped jackets or in all-denim, and the bastions of the conventional wardrobe – the blouson, the cardigan, the shirt – are conveyed in a Damier salt print, fading and distorting the classic motif.

“Separate fashion from fiction” and “Don’t let your day job define you” – archive quotes from the Vocabulary according to Virgil Abloh published seasonally as part of his Louis Vuitton practice – appear on garments throughout the collection. Skater hats and caps in a variety of materials and scarves are interpreted in the galaxy and Damier salt prints, mirroring the aforementioned bastions of the conventional wardrobe. As for jewelry, the signature chain-link pieces magnify in size and expand with opal finishes alongside existing metal textures. The new Around the World necklaces and bracelets with globe and trunk pendants are also introduced in the Pre-Fall 2021 menswear range.

Finishing off the transformative range are black-leather clog derby in black leather buckled mules; the signature Louis Vuitton sneaker also puts in an appearance in a yellow and green contrast style. Bags interpret the Damier salt print on the classic coated canvas in indigo with black leather trims, as well as a stone-colored version with tonal trimming. The collection also introduces a new sling bag shape with signature metal rivets and leather corners, alongside a new messenger carryall in Macassar monogram. And of course, a series of the recognizable Louis Vuitton shapes in tonal black are also added for good measure.
