Sernin, like many others, looked to art to galvanize his newest collection. Aspiring to reevaluate past ideals on surrealism, Sernin creates abstract garments that successfully yield inventive forms. In step with his debut collection, Sernin places audacious pieces over otherwise “normal” garments.

The simplistic yet widely imaginative line reinvents the fringed scarf by constructing drapping pants, synched tops, and saddle bags. The collection also heavily incorporates poppers, which allow pieces the mobility to form new shapes. Sernin subsumes a clean finish to his collection, while still maintaining the creative constructs that inspired the collection. Ceramics take on a role in the collection, playing part of a wrestling suit link together with metallic rings, and an egg- cup holder that sits on the shoulder of the model. This inclusion, one that is outwardly bold, somehow responds to restrained tone. Sernin successfully brings escapism back into an otherwise saturated industry.

Soft blue corduroy and sheen coating combats the rough exterior of matte leather pieces and darker hues. What makes this collection such a distinctive exhibition is the originality and stand-alone aspect that each garment posses, yet when placed side by side complete Sernin’s vision of modern-day Surrealism.
