Italian fashion brand LuisaViaRoma is doubling down on its commitment to a sustainable future through a partnership with Extreme E, the world’s first electric automobile race created to increase awareness of climate change. As the Official Global Fashion Partner of Extreme E, LuisaViaRoma aims to promote a cultural transition to electric cars and greater environmental awareness. The result of this collaboration is Five Races for Five Endangered Ecosystems, a global phenomenon of off-road races occurring in some of the most remote and breathtaking natural landscapes. The series kicked off on April 1 with the Desert X Prix in Saudi Arabia. In the coming months, races will take place in Senegal, Greenland, Brazil, and Argentina. Each location has been carefully selected to represent a different ecosystem under threat.

Accompanying the races is a Legacy Programme of climate action, featuring interdisciplinary scholars dedicated to fighting climate change around the world. These experts will travel aboard the St. Helena, a former Royal Mail ship that has been refitted to reduce emissions. The electric vehicles will also travel on the ship in an effort to make the event as sustainable as possible. Upon arrival at the selected locations, 9 teams composed of one male and one female driver will race the 100% electric SUVs across the gorgeous natural landscapes. The commitment to gender equality in the composition of each team and the thoughtful sustainable strategies employed throughout ensure that this event casts a vote for a better world.

This forward-looking ethos is a foundational part of LuisaViaRoma’s vision, particularly for LVRSustainable, a new section of LuisaViaRoma which aims to advance environmental causes by offering a selection of sustainable brands and partnering with nonprofit organizations.
