MAISON MARGIELA Dropped a New Sneaker Collaboration with REEBOK

The iconic fashion house and sportswear megabrand just dropped ‘CLUB C MAISON MARGIELA’, the fashion sneaker of the season.

Club C Maison Margiela

As part of their ongoing collaboration, Maison Margiela and Reebok have dropped Club C Maison Margiela, a new sneaker that already has hype-beast, and fashionistas losing their minds. Drawing on codes evolved by Creative Director John Galliano, the sneaker expresses the characteristics of the French fashion house through one of the sportswear brands most recognizable designs, the Club C tennis shoe.

First launched in 1985, the Club C tennis shoe – (the ‘C’ short for ‘Champion’) – bridges the gap between sports and fashion. Unifying innovation with nostalgia, fashion and functionality the new sneaker takes on the codes of Masion Margiela, and Rebook with this timeless design. Constructed from a single piece of flat leather, the sneaker’s one-cut upper is printed with a scanned image of Reebok’s original Club C shoe (a Margiela technique known as trompe l’oeil). Using trompe l’oeil – deception of the eye – the effect mimics every stitch, curve and shadow of the original 3-D surface, achieving a 2-D optical illusion key to the visual language of Maison Margiela, whose work has historically blurred the lines between truth and artifice.

The Club C Maison Margiela is available in white or black from March 24th in select Maison Margiela stores and on maisonmargiela.com and reebok.com.
