Make It Punk With Fred Perry x Raf Simons Newest Collaboration
The latest creative partnership between the two brands capitalizes on the energy and freedom of youth, as luxury meets street fashion
Inspired by underground communities and youth subcultures, the new Fred Perry x Raf Simons collaboration reinvents classic Fred Perry pieces with Raf Simons subtleties. Garments are decorated with artwork by graphic designer Tom Tosseyn, a previous collaborator with Simons on his eponymous label, and mirrors the paraphernalia and romance of collecting little personal treasures reflecting one’s interests. Pins, patches, and labels are placed meticulously onto clothing, their designs influenced by flyers and posters for gigs and printed set lists. Sweatshirts, jumpers, polos, and ringer tees are featured, with oversized silhouettes and minimal colors of black, gray, cream, red, and yellow. Outerwear is distinct, with a slouchy, belted trench coat and a fishtail parka jacket made of a cotton shell fabric with a detachable fleece liner. Most pieces are adorned with a silver metal Laurel Wreath charm, metal pin, and Raf Simons embroidery. An edgy sense of autonomy is felt throughout the collection, which takes us back to the spirit of youth and commemoration of individuality.
