SOFT CELL SUPERFANS NOW HAVE THE ULTIMATE ITEM FOR THEIR COLLECTIONS

Not a single 80's playlist is complete that doesn't include the crowd-rousing track, "Tainted Love." The song, and the band behind it, Soft Cell, helped define the era's electronic music scene, and Marc Almond's brooding vocals and leathered-up looks defined the subcultural man. As fashion is prone to do, the all-black ensembles, turtlenecks, and layered chains are already back en vogue. Now is the perfect time then for Almond to release his curated archive of photos that capture the band's peak and the singer's subsequent career as a stylist, naturally.

The limited edition photo book, eponymously titled, features 200 images with captions collaborated on by MOJO contributor Mark Paytress. In 2010, Antony Hegarty awarded Marc the MOJO Hero award, sponsored by the magazine. Like most things that force us to reflect on the past, the artist says, "putting a book like this together is very difficult because it brings up all kind of emotions...But that's great. It would be too easy to fall into the comfort zone of nostalgia. The book goes much further than that. The whole process has been bittersweet and yet cathartic. I've really enjoyed working on it and it looks fantastic." The band's 81 single "Memorabilia," says it best, "I've got to have a memory/Or I have never been there."
