Marcelo Burlon Leaves His Party Ways Behind For His New Collection

Spring/Summer Men’s 2022 Collection

Marcelo Burlon, the Argentinean Italian Creative Director, is trying a different approach to his spring and summer 2022 collection. The work hard play hard type of mentality that Burlon had before the pandemic has eased away and it shows in this collection.

Pre-pandemic Burlon would throw ravers for over 5,000 people during Milan Fashion Week, but now he’s done a complete 180 to spending time with just his close friends and family.

“I’ve gone back, like many others during lockdown, to [surrounding myself with] a close circle of friends, family,” Burlon said from Ibiza, Spain, where he lives. “After so many years of overexposure I found myself at ease in keeping it intimate.”

For the men’s collection, he revisited his Patagonia roots and the hippie lifestyle of the people who inhabit the Spanish Island for inspiration. The images for the collection were shot inside the 19th-century Chateau de Franconville-aux-Bois in France, which is currently undergoing renovation as seen in the background of the models.

The castle fixer upper is the most appropriate to set the scene for the elevated streetwear collection, which is like a breath of fresh air for the brand.

Burlon turned Verner Panton’s psychedelic designs into cool prints for suits and parkas, crafted from recycled nylon. Keeping up with functional designs, he paired an organic cotton looser-fit suit paired with skater sneakers and added a touch of flair to the collection with ponchos.

This is not Burlon’s farewell to after parties or ragers, sometime next year the creative director/dj said he would return incorporating shows with parties. But in the meantime, take a look at the more intimate side of Burlon, while we still have it, through this collection.
