May Brings a Handful of New Netflix Releases

“Uncut Gems” and Ryan Murphy’s limited series “Hollywood” are among the titles joining Netflix next month.

While Netflix has become social distancing’s best friend, the streaming platform is adding a plethora of new movies and TV shows next month. Between new and continuing Netflix Originals and non-originals, May on Netflix is set to be interesting. Head below for the list.

May 1st

All Day and a Night (2020)– Featuring Jeffrey Wright and Ashton Sanders, Joe Robert Cole wrote and directed this drama flick about a young criminal who reflects on his life once in prison.

Casi Feliz / Almost Happy (Season 1)– A Netflix Original Spanish comedy series.

Den of Thieves (2018)– Staring 50 Cent, Gerard Butler, and Pablo Schreiber, this 2018 action film tells the story of a battle between an elite police unit and squad of bank robbers.

Fun with Dick & Jane (2005)– A Judd Apatow written comedy/crime movie staring Jim Carrey.

Get In (2020)– This Netflix Original French thriller sees a man return to his home to find it filled with squatters.

Hollywood (Limited Series)– The highly anticipated return of American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy to television is with this Netflix Original about the golden age of Hollywood told through aspiring directors and actors.

Into The Night (Season 1)– A new Netflix Original Belgian sci-fi series.

Never Stop Dreaming: The Life and Legacy of Shimon Peres (2018)– A Netflix Original documentary telling the story of former Prime Minister of Israel Shimon Peres, directed by Richard Trank and featuring George Clooney, Barack Obama, and Barbara Streisand.

The Half of It (2020)–  A Netflix Original romantic comedy about an unexpected teenage love triangle written and directed by Alice Wu.

May 4th

Arctic Dogs (2019)– An animated movie with the voices of Jeremy Renner, Heidi Klum and James Franco in the tale of an arctic fox working in a mailroom.

May 5th

Jerry Seinfeld: 23 Hours to Kill (2020)– One of stand-up comedy’s most iconic members Jerry Seinfeld has a new Netflix Special.

May 6th

Hangman (2017)– This crime drama sees Al Pacino as a detective chasing a killer who bases his kills on the game hangman.

Workin Moms (Season 4)– The Netflix Original Canadian comedy series continues on with a fourth season.

May 8th

Dead To Me (Season 2)– The gripping Netflix Original staring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini returns for it’s highly anticipated second season.

Restaurants on the Edge (Season 2)– Experts around the world shoot their shot at reviving failing restaurants in this Netflix Original reality series.

Rust Valley Restorers (Season 2)– The Netflix Original Canadian reality series about car-flipping is no Pimp My Ride, but still sees scraps of metal transform into cool cars.

Sleepless (2017)– This action cop thriller stars Jamie Foxx, where his connection to a dark criminal underworld helps him locate his lost son.

The Eddy (Limited Series)– A Netflix Original musical series created by Jack Throne telling the story of a French jazz club owner in the middle of Paris keeping things from spinning out of control.

The Hollow (Season 2)– A new season of the animated and genre-defying Canadian series from Netflix Originals.

The Wrong Missy (2020)– A Netflix comedy directed by Tyler Spindel and staring David Spade about a man meeting the woman of his dreams, sending her an invite to his corporate retreat but, as a David Spade movie would have it, sending it to the wrong person.

Valeria (Season 1)– A Spanish drama/comedy from Netflix about a writer experiencing a crisis.

May 11th

Have a Good Trip: Adventures in Psychedelics (2020)– A Netflix documentary consisting of various celebrities recounting their experiences, both good and bad, while taking drugs told through animations and reenactments. Has a documentary ever sounded more fun?

Trial by Media (Season 1)– This Netflix Original documentary series unfolds how the media affects court cases.

May 12th

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. The Reverend (2020)– Kimmy confronts her captor in this Netflix special from the hit comedy series.

May 15th

Public Enemy (2009)– Johnny Depp and Christian Bale tell the tale of American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd in this action-packed biopic.

May 16th

Soul Surfer (2011)– Anna Sophia Robb plays famous surfer Bethany Hamilton, who was attacked by a shark as a teenager off the coast of Kauai, losing her arm and learning how to persevere in the aftermath.
