Moose Knuckles is bringing comedy into the world of fashion. Their Fall 2021 campaign was shot by photographer David LaChapelle, who is known for his surrealist imagery. And this campaign was no exception for LaChapelle.

The campaign features models Emily Ratajkowski and Adwoa Aboah along with SNL star Pete Davidson. The trio can be seen in a clearly photoshopped image of them ice fishing in the sewers through an open manhole. Though the stars are adorned in Moose Knuckles gear, it’s impossible to look beyond the fish Pete Davidson holds while lounging in the snow.

The campaign also showcases a video of the trio on the frozen street over the manhole. They can be seen playing catch with a fake fish, flopping around in the snow, and lounging on ice sculptures. “We know our audience,” said the campaign’s creative director, Brody Baker. “We wanted to create imagery that would resonate with their sensibilities.”

The clearly green-screened ads emphasize the reconstructed nature in the design of the collection. By giving their campaign a comedic edge, Moose Knuckles introduces the ideas of casualness and fun into their new collection.

The collection itself has a large focus on puffer jackets. Many of these come with upper arm patches of the Moose Knuckles logo. The overall collection attempts to minimize weight while maximizing warmth and durability. Since its origins, Moose Knuckles has dedicated itself to luxury outerwear that can survive a Canadian winter. They wanted to create something functional that didn’t fit into the “carabiner aesthetic.”

While the campaign is creative and the garments are functional, the Fall 2021 collection is not unique. Though quality may be better, the styles of garments are the kind you can find at any discount store in winter. The collection features loose-fitting t-shirts and flannels that look like staples of any winter wardrobe. Although, they also feature shiny gold pants that are a standout in this collection.

Moose Knuckles’ Fall 2021 line is made for those looking for simplistic yet functional pieces. But even if this new collection does not have the kind of flair you are craving, you can still get a kick out of their new campaign.
