Nahmias Summons California’s ‘Butterfly Beach’ In His Latest RTW SS23 Collection

Prevailing eponymous label Nahmias leaves Paris Fashion Week awestruck after debuting a beautifully nostalgic collection amplifying the voices of California’s youth.

Sanctifying the appreciation for his scenic and intimate west coast hometown of Summerland, California, creative director Doni Nahmias of the signature luxe brand, Nahmias, debuted his second all-encompassing Ready To Wear Spring/Summer 2023 Collection entitled “Butterfly Beach,” during Paris Men’s Fashion Week. Presented at the effervescent home of contemporary art, the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the collection aims to illuminate the voices of California youth by championing “normal clothes” with a seamless infusion of elevated luxury skate, basketball, surf, and hip-hop codes that are melded within. 

Following the label’s debut of their AW22 ‘Miracle Worker’ Collection, which intersected utilitarian workwear and Californian, the latest collection is centered around Nahmias’s uninterrupted interpretations of his everyday teenage life. A personalized past reality that amounted to surfing the weekend swells and sandy beach hangouts from sunrise to sunset. 

During my recent conversation with Doni, he shared, “I wanted to bring Butterfly Beach to Paris. All my inspiration for this collection comes from that period during my youth; it’s been a nostalgic process.”

An influx of codes from unpretentious West Coast American style is melded throughout the collection, seen through merino wool cardigans in pastel shades reminiscent of sunsets, custom water-colored silk shirts with hemp motifs, and knit mesh jerseys. Since their debut, Nahmias has since become a staple in the closets of J.Lo, Jack Harlow, J. Cole, Kodak Black, Justin, and Hailey Bieber, Dua Lipa, James Harden, Miguel, and many others.

With original graphics that chisel the butterflies into the Nahmias logo seen across silk shirts and pants, the title “Butterfly Beach” takes on a literal translation in this collection. A robust offering of Nahmias denim is omnipresent throughout the collection with a unique twist – paneled Italian denim for a crisp and elevated feel, meshed perfectly with distressed carpenter jeans that elevates the utilitarian workwear feel to an entirely new level.

Long sleeve knits sewn into t-shirts echo the sense of lofty practicality that is the inherent Nahmias code. The Spring Summer 2023 collection introduces the labels first original sneaker, the “Five-O.” Doni, a lifelong sneaker fan, merged his favorite details to create this first shoe. A low-top basketball shoe has a higher platform and an air bubble in the sole for maximum comfort. 

This collection also introduces an unprecedented partnership with Bacardi rum for the brand’s legacy Music Liberates Music campaign, a 4-piece merch collaboration consisting of a T-Shirt, Cap, Jacket, and Hoodie. Each piece in the capsule collection features a QR-code embedded design leading to a playlist of global emerging music talent, each mentored by Grammy award-winning producer Boi-1da. All profits will be donated to the up-and-coming artists as part of the campaign. The capsule collection is now available for pre-order on Nahmias.
