Netflix Releases Trailer for Pandemic Related Series ‘Social Distance’

The virtual project was developed by Orange Is The New Black creator Jenji Kohan along with her creative team during the pandemic shutdown.

Netflix released the trailer for a new series titled Social Distance. It will premiere on October 15th. The news comes after the project was initially announced on April 28.

The eight-part anthology series is told through a virtual lens and takes place during the initial months of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was shot individually in each actor’s home and later weaved together to tell a story that is shared between eight unique experiences. In fact, the entire process, from the writing, the production, right down to the filming was conducted remotely by each cast/crew member. The project is led by Orange is the New Black creator Jenji Kohan and her team of writers and creatives.

Social Distance will capture “the unique emotional experience of being forced apart by circumstance and having no choice but to communicate remotely and rely on technology to maintain any sense of connection”. It will feature actors such as Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black), Oscar Nunez (The Office), Mike Colter (Marvel’s Luke Cage), and more.

“Through these varied and deeply human stories, Social Distance aims to provide some much-needed catharsis during a tumultuous time while also capturing a snapshot of this singular moment in history,” reads the description.
