Netflix Sets Release Date For “Umbrella Academy” Season 2

Grab your cape, and get ready to binge.

Superhero fans, prepare yourselves: “The Umbrella Academy” is returning. Your favorite dysfunctional superhero family will be back for a second season this summer. Netflix made the announcement in style, with a quarantine video conference teaser of the cast. Thank you, Netflix. I guess some heroes really don’t wear capes.

The live-action series, based on Dark Horse Comics’ “The Umbrella Academy” comics, written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Bá, will be returning on July 31, 2020. The second season released has been highly anticipated as the series ranked third on the list of Netflix’s most popular series releases of 2019.

“The Umbrella Academy” stars Aidan Gallagher, Robert Sheehan, Ellen Page, Kate Walsh, Tom Hopper, Mary J. Blige, David Castañeda, Cameron Britton, Colm Feore, John Magaro, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Adam Godley, and Ashley Madekwe.

The new additions to the cast that we all know and love include Ritu Arya, Marin Ireland, and Yusuf Gatewood.

In “The Umbrella Academy,” on the same day in October 1989, 43 infants were inexplicably born, to random, unconnected women who were showing no signs of pregnancy the day before. Billionaire, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, adopts seven of these children, creates “The Umbrella Academy,” and prepares them to save the world.

Watch the cast dance and sing to Tiffany’s 1987 rendition of “I Think We’re Alone Now” in the Season 2 teaser below.
