New York Sunshine and U.P.W.W. Unveil Collaboration at PFWM

The hottest collaboration to drop at Paris Fashion Week Men’s combines the use of construction workwear and art.

The latest collaboration to come from Men’s Fashion Week in Paris encompasses art, industrial elements, and fashion all in one unique collection. John Margaritis, the founder of the creative collective, New York Sunshine, and workwear brand U.P.W.W. , with Creative Director Alessandro Simonetti, has launched a 10-piece capsule collection alongside an art installation by Margaritis himself.

Following installations at Art Basel Miami and collaborations with Heron Preston, Virgil Abloh and Nike to name a few, Margaritis created an art installation and a 10-piece capsule collection with work-wear brand U.P.W.W. Debuting in 2017, the brand serves as an offshoot of the US brand Utility Pro, which produces workwear for construction workers and air traffic controllers and has collaborated with the likes of Barney’s New York and Reebok.

The installation consisting of benches and light sculptures were inspired by Simonetti’s latest photographs of chain-link fences, shot in Lower Manhattan’s construction sites ranging from Alphabet City to the Financial District. With Simonetti’s previous work being shown in the Tate Modern London, this latest series is a testament to his fascination with the underground subcultures that blossom in the streets of the city. The capsule collection ranges from jackets to long-sleeve shirts and highlights the use of workwear materials with reflective strips and zipped mesh inserts.
