Go behind the scenes of a seaside VMAN 46 shoot with model Noah Luis Brown.

This article appears in VMAN46, available to order now.

Noah Luis Brown broke onto the fashion scene with an enviable debut in the Louis Vuitton F/W ‘17 menswear show, and he hasn’t slowed down since. With a slew of covers and campaigns under his belt, including Vogue Italia, Versace, and Calvin Klein, Brown has a resume to rival the most seasoned industry veterans. More recently, he modeled bright attire beachside for a fashion story in VMAN 46. The spread truly ‘shines bright’ as Brown poses in eye-catching apparel on the glittering shores of Croatia. VMAN caught up with Brown to learn more about his career and his experience shooting the story. Plus, further insight from photographer Bruna Kazinoti.

IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA

VMAN: When & how did you get started with modeling?

Noah Luis Brown: Back in 2015 I was scouted on Instagram by my agency in Switzerland, Visage. The next thing I remember, I found myself standing in front of Kim Jones and Alister Mackie and was opening the Louis Vuitton X Supreme collection. It was my first show and my first job. It is, to this day, one of the craziest moments I’ve ever had.

VM: Your VMAN fashion story was shot in Croatia, which you’d never been to before. What was your impression of the country?

NLB: I never thought Croatia had such a paradise-like environment. I was really impressed by the natural landscape and the beauty of their culture. I will definitely go back—maybe during summertime since the north is really cold too.

VM: What was your experience during the shoot—were there any particularly memorable moments?

NLB: The special thing about the shoot was hanging with the creatives. It was really nice team and we had such a harmonious time.

VM: If you could keep one item of clothing or accessory from the shoot, which would it be?

NLB: These really cool wide-leg pants by Marni and this really nice knit sweater by Dior.

VM: I read in a previous interview that you studied dance for four years. Have you found that any of the skills or lessons from dance have translated to modeling?

NLB: That is true! Actually, I was in dance school when I started modeling. And yes, I definitely think modeling and dancing are two of the strongest forms of self-expression and art. I feel very blessed to have my passions combined.

VM: In all your time in the modeling industry so far, what is the best wisdom or advice you’ve gotten?

NLB: Regret is useless, past is past. All we have is now.

BEHIND THE CAMERA

Bruna Kazinoti is a photographer from Croatia who has worked with Vogue Australia, Dazed and Confused, GQ Style Germany, and many other publications.

VMAN: How did you develop the concept behind the shoot?

Bruna Kazinoti: We wanted to capture the feel of sun, warmth, joy, and love.

VM: Can you tell us about the location? Why did you choose it?

BK: I am from Split, Croatia. Shooting took place in Rovinj. I visit Rovinj and other places in Istra every year. They have beautiful nature, wine, and food. It’s a great place. I love it. You never get bored of it. I have been a few times at the Lone Hotel and it’s always a pleasure. The beach is nice, with an open view of the sea. That was the location we needed for this shoot.

VM: What was the dynamic like working with Noah?

BK: He had great energy, joy, fun, and love.

VM: What sort of advice would you have liked to know starting off on your career?

BK: Not really any advice. I like to find out about things myself.
