On Day 3 of Paris Men’s AW20 Fashion Week, showgoers were introduced to the latest trend to emerge from the catwalks that we’d like to call, LOUDER-WEAR. Coats with no rules were seen cloaked over the shoulders of models, in bold hues and mesmerizing patterns. This start to Paris shows has proven to men all over the world that making individualistic statements through one’s style of dressing is more prevalent than ever, as bold garments continue to dominate the recent trends in menswear. For this upcoming Fall-Winter season, there are NO RULES. Freedom to express one’s wild side was encouraged by the minds of new generation greats like Kim Jones and Kris Van Assche. Coats, Jackets and everything in between were defined by the bold uses of embroidery and refreshing silhouettes that captured a wild at heart attitude.

Vetements

Vetements brought their classic WOW! factor to Paris Fashion Week Men’s with a fuzzy faux-fur coat in an acid green color, part psychedelic bohemian, part glam punk. For this upcoming Autumnal season, don’t be afraid to go for bold hues when bundling up for the colder climates. Wide lapels and enlarged cuffs keep the format of the coat in a classic state.

Berluti

Kris Van Assche kept the furry outerwear trend going with a zig-zag rendition for the house of Berluti, while sticking to more of a classic colorway. This piece is meant for those who would prefer a coat that will easily mesh well with other closet staples.  With slight touches of fluorescent orange, don’t be intimidated to play around with color blocking for the winter season.

Dior

From today’s Paris Fashion Week Men’s show, Kim Jones delivered a flare of feminity but in a masculine context for the house of Dior. More of a draped overcoat with dropped shoulders and refined collars, the garment features a gold embroidered design all throughout the torso. Picturesque of a coat that one would see in a 60’s film, nods to the past were present all throughout the collection.

Commes Des Garçons

At Commes Des Garcons, the genius of Rei Kawakubo showcased cropped wool coats that were a standout piece in the incredible collection. Worn on top of a lightweight blazer, this peacoat/cape hybrid was an elevated twist on a classic closet staple, perfect for those who have a preference for the avant-garde when it comes to winter dressing.

Juun.J

At Juun.J, 80’s glam rock was heavily featured throughout the collection, highlighting the use of oversized shoulders with loads of metal zippers and buckles for details. A high fashion version of a  classic biker jacket, this ensemble is a hybrid of a traditional moto jacket with loose-fitting leather trousers.

Balmain

At Balmain, Olivier Rousteing brought shearling to a whole other level, creating an oversized jacket with mega wide lapels. This particular piece highlights the use of buckles that hug the arms with cuddle soft shearling and enlarged cuffs that give the jacket a runway feel.

Ann Demeulemeester

Ann Demeulemeester designer Sebastian Meunier brought a mix of sheer garments with slim-fitting shearling coats to the Paris Fashion Week Men’s runways.  Bringing a more demure feel to the collection, this ensemble plays with touches of femininity and softer color palettes while keeping true to the codes of classic outerwear.
