Numero 00 Will Present Its SS21 Collection Celebrating the Power of Love
The short film presentation will be part of the first-ever CNMI digital fashion week event.
As the fashion world quickly moves to a highly digital realm, Italian fashion brand Numero 00 will present its Spring/Summer 2021 collection with a short film during Milan’s Digital Fashion Week. The livestream, hosted by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI), is the first-ever digital fashion week event for the Italian fashion industry.
The collection, titled “Vietato Non Amare” (“Forbidden Not to Love”), is focused on the relationship between love in all of its forms and personal freedom and expression. Designer Valerio Farina embodies love as a journey, representing both people and places. Inspired by his passion for the Italian city of Rimini – where the brand’s headquarters is located – Farina explores the idea that love can motivate both spiritual and physical freedom from preconceptions and negativity.
The title plays on two negatives forming a positive statement – a concept that Farina highlights through the fabrics, colors, and messages in the collection’s clothing. The repeated use of sandy beige and ocean blue colors is directly related to Farina’s muse-worthy location, while the contrast of black and white paired with asymmetrical designs throughout the collection represents the positive/negative dichotomy of its iconic title.
The soft, lightweight fabrics, which accentuate the human form and represent freedom, positivity, and emotional resurrection, expose the important message that “we are all equal.” In a time of uncertainty and turmoil, the collection manages to subtly contrast our daily restrictions with the refuge of love.
Numero 00’s Spring/Summer 2021 presentation will be livestreamed as part of CNMI’s Digital Fashion Week on July 16 and available to watch on The New York Times website.
