OPENING CEREMONY TEAMS UP WITH LUAR

The Ana Mini bag gets a new look with Opening Ceremony

Opening Ceremony turns 20 this year, and the ready-to-wear brand has unveiled the perfect collaboration to celebrate. They have teamed up with LUAR, a New York-based clothing brand founded by Raul Lopez to produce two exclusive versions of the iconic Ana Mini bag.

Open Ceremony founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim actually have a long friendship with Lopez, dating back 15 years to when Open Ceremony carried Hood by Air, a brand Lopez had recently founded. In 2017, LUAR became a vision of intersectionality between New York City and the Dominican Republic. LUAR prides itself on making people all over the world feel included and celebrated, which is why accessibility and creativity have become core elements to Lopez’s vision.

“When we decided to bring together our friends new and old for collaborations this year, Raul was a no-brainer,” said Opening Ceremony co-founders and co-creative directors Humberto Leon & Carol Lim. “Outside of being a dear personal friend of ours, we have such a deep pride and respect for what Raul has built with LUAR, and we love how everything he creates deeply reflects the unmatched energy of New York.”

The collaboration consists of two limited edition colorways of the Ana Mini bag by LUAR. one in tobacco with a horse hair effect leather, and the other in black and cream snakeskin embossed vegan leather. In addition to the bags is a sweatshirt with the artwork “Feeding a Child of the Ocean” by Dominican American artist Bony Rameriez, inspired by his Caribbean Heritage.

The collection is available now at openingceremony.com and farfetch.com.
