Our Favorite Keanu Reeves Movie Looks Over The Years, Ranked

Happy birthday, Keanu!

Over the years, actor Keanu Reeves has stacked a pretty impressive list of movie roles under his belt. He’s been a Hollywood favorite since the 80s, and today, to celebrate his 56th birthday, we’re going to rank our 10 favorite Keanu looks from some of his iconic roles over the years. Happy birthday, Keanu!

1. Scott Favor, My Own Private Idaho (1991)

Keanu in a beat-up leather jacket with a grey hoodie underneath might be simple, but it’s a classic! And you really, really can’t go wrong when you add in his tousled hair and bad-boy smirk.

2. Paul Sutton, A Walk in The Clouds (1995)

1940s Keanu! 1940s Keanu! If the era alone doesn’t convince you, take a look at Keanu Reeves in a vintage fedora and casual blazer and get back to us.

3. Ted, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989)

I know it seems like we might be biased towards young Keanu, but I promise, we’re not. It’s just that his look in the role of Ted—graphic tee styled with a statement orange jacket and shaggy hair—is truly timeless and iconic.

4. Neo, The Matrix (1999)

Alas, the moment you’ve all been waiting for! No matter what the category is, no Keanu-themed list would be complete without featuring what is perhaps his most iconic role, Neo in The Matrix. Mini black sunglasses with an all-black ensemble can never go wrong, and he gets bonus points for accessorizing the look with a pair of daggers.

5. Jonathan Harker, Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)

It takes a talent as phenomenal and a man as great as Keanu Reeves to be able to pull off an 1890s wardrobe as well as he pulls off a 1990s wardrobe. Let’s face it: a 19th-century Victorian vest layered under a velvet coat and patterned kerchief isn’t an easy look to make work, but Keanu does it.

6. Shane Falco, The Replacements (2000)

Sporty Keanu is just as fashionable as virtual reality Keanu and post-World War II Keanu, and Shane Falco proves it. The floppy athlete’s hair and red football jersey may not scream “high fashion,” but on Keanu, the unfamiliar attire is definitely a fan favorite.

7. John Constantine, Constantine (2005)

It’s the slick-backed-hair/disheveled suit/half-smoked cigarette look for us. Bonus points for the most withering stare of all time.

8. Keanu Reeves, Always Be My Maybe (2019)

What’s best about this look isn’t just the thick-rimmed, modern glasses, nor the long, sleek bob, nor the expensive velvet black ensemble: it’s the idea that all of those things would be what Keanu Reeves wears on a daily basis, because in this role, he’s playing himself. He absolutely killed the first-date fashion game.

10. John Wick, John Wick (2014)

Keanu in a suit (yet again!) but make it with a lethal weapon, a bloodied face, and still-perfect hair this time. Can we hear it for the gentleman assassin look he embodies in this role, please?
