Parson James just dropped the video for his new single, “Only You”. We interviewed him back in 2015, and it’s clear he is making his way from his humble beginnings of a small town in the South, turning into an artist with a message. James is noted for his activism within the LGBTQ+ community, including his recent launch of the monthly party in Manhattan, SugarCube, which is held at PUBLIC, a space launched by the co-founder of Studio 54, Ian Schrager. The new video also contains James’ notes of activism.

The video, directed by Dano Cerny, features Kupono Aweau (who toured with Madonna on the Rebel Heart Tour) and transfemme musician/actress/designer/model Neon. “I was adamant about including a trans character because as a fierce advocate for the community, I often find it rare to see their stories portrayed in narratives that are as common, simple and familiar as this one," James said about the importance of a trans narrative in the video. "I am humbled, moved & so proud to be able to share this story visually in this way, with this cast.”

Keep your eyes open for a debut album, set to release later this year. Watch the video for “Only You” below.
