Party Hard with Marcelo Burlon’s SS23 Collection
Marcelo Burlon celebrated his eponymous brand, County of Milan’s, 10th anniversary with a bright SS23 collection.
If there is one thing Marcelo Burlon knows how to do, it’s throw a party.
And party he did for the Spring/Summer 2023 show for his eponymous label, County of Milan. The presentation at Milan Fashion Week marked the brand’s 10th anniversary, and Burlon celebrated the milestone in style, walking the runway himself.
Hosted at Milan’s Velodromo Vigorelli stadium, the County of Milan SS23 show brought the vibes of Ibiza to Italy. Models of all ages and ethnicities walked the football field-length runway to the beat to techno music, dressed in colorful and classically Burlon styles.
The SS23 collection builds upon Burlon’s ethos of diversity and multi-cultural influences, with plenty of patchwork, frayed hems, and tie-dye. Burlon aimed to make the collection “global and participative,” as well as “a self-confident acknowledgement of our place in the world.” With mixed prints, chunky knits, and suits made entirely of patchwork, the collection invites everyone to the sunny beaches of Ibiza for an all-night party.
Burlon, who is known for his use of prints and textures, turned back fashion’s clock with paisley, camo, and animal prints, and with frayed crop tops and patchwork denim. The result: “Urban staples for grown-ups.” This year’s collection builds upon the hippy, crochet-heavy SS22 collection from last year, though the bohemian style and workwear silhouettes remain a part of the brand’s DNA.
The collection is rounded-out by collaborations with Alpha Industries and Kappa, resulting in cross-branding to the highest degree with Patagonia-printed bomber jackets, t-shirts, and jerseys.
Overall, the County of Milan SS23 collection is a continuation of Burlon’s traditionally untraditional fashion sense, cut from the same Patagonian cloth of the brands’ debut collection 10 years ago.
