Perfume Genius Drops Initial Talk Remix of “On The Floor”

Tokyo-based producer Initial Talk put his own spin on Perfume Genius’s LP from his anticipated new album.

The first glimpse of Perfume Genius’s forthcoming album Set My Heart On Fire Immediately, due out May 15th via Matador Records, came last month with a pop-centered single titled “On The Floor.” Within the track, Perfume Genius (a.k.a. Mike Hadreas) channeled themes of love, sex, the relationship between memory and the body, and popular music mythologies.

Perfume Genius just released Tokyo-based producer Initial Talk’s spin on the track, rendering “On The Floor” into a dance club remix that’s reminiscent of ’80s hits from the Pet Shop Boys and Prince.

The fifth studio album from Perfume Genius with co-production by GRAMMY-winning Blake Mills, Set My Heart On Fire Immediately explores and dismantles traditional masculine roles. “I wanted to feel more open, more free and spiritually wild, and I’m in a place now where those feelings are very close, but it can border on being unhinged,” Hadreas said of his coming album. “I wrote these songs as a way to be more patient, more considered; to pull at all these chaotic threads hovering around me and weave them in to something warm, thoughtful and comforting.”

While anticipation for Set My Heart On Fire Immediately grows, head below for the album’s cover and full tracklist, with pre-order available through Matador Records’ website.
