Perhaps the most brilliant execution of structure on any of the runways in Paris, Rick Owens delivers a sculptural, otherworldly collection that succeeds and satisfies from beginning to end. Using cotton, felt, and wool as the basis of these intricate designs, Owens creates a space beyond our comprehension, using his platform to bring couture-esque works of art into the world of men’s fashion.

A cohesive element in this collection is his play with length, and in some designs, the gaps in between. The opening look of this 40-piece collection is an eggshell-colored tunic, draped at both shoulders and fitted down to the knee with a few slits in the tunic, revealing a more complex look at the structure of the chains and hooks holding the piece together, as well as a pair of denim shorts beneath. Another model dons a brown costume-esque, heavy floor-length cape with oversized wide pants and another in black, only styled in entirely white face paint and a messy, undefined mohawk. In closing, Owens saved an epic, beautiful oversized black coat and linen jumpsuit stealing eyes from anything else in the room, hoping to consume and recognize every detail of the ensemble for its brief life on the runway.

Rick Owens is a designer who is unafraid to create and play by his own rules, one who takes enough risk within his own vision, continually reinvents himself, and delivers collection after collection only staying to true to himself — a rare commitment that Owen’s creatively feeds on, asking for no prize except hungry eyes.
