Rolex Temporarily Closes All Of Its Swiss Factories

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In light of the sweeping COVID-19 pandemic affecting continent around the world, CEO of Rolex Jean-Frederic Dufour has now announced that all of its Swiss factories will now be closed down at least through March 27. “That date may of course be pushed back according to the evolution of the epidemic,” he noted.

The announcement came in a letter addressed to all of the factory’s employees. “As I already said last week, we are facing a very serious situation,” Dufour said in a statement. “In order to protect you, your families, and your loved ones, but also to limit the risks of spreading the Coronavirus as much as possible, we have decided to close our production sites in Geneva, Bienne, and Crissier from March 17 at 5:00 PM through Friday, March 27, 2020.”

Europe has now become one of the continents most affected by the coronavirus outbreak, with Italy becoming an epicenter of the crisis. Switzerland has also suffered, and the country’s Federal Council has ordered to close all shops, restaurants and entertainment facilities until mid-April. According to Switzerland’s newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung, the country now has 2,330 confirmed cases and 18 deaths.
