Sango Drops New Single “Quanto Tempo”
Sango releases his new song “Quanto Tempo,” a modern interpretation of Brazilian music.
Sometimes, a song plays and your hips start shaking of their own accord. Or maybe it’s your fingers that start tapping along to the rhythm. Either way, “Quanto Tempo” is one such song. The smooth new track is by Seattle-based artist Sango. It’s the second single off his upcoming project “Da Rocinha 4.”
“It is a mix of Brazil’s northeast sound of brega funk and the sound of the Bay Area & Seattle gig culture,” said Sango.
“Quanto Tempo” features artists Luccas Carlos and Jao. Sango and Jao co-produced the track, and the voice you hear is Luccas. His music, according to Sango, is a modern interpretation of the Rio De Janeiro sound, a love letter to Brazil. The first single off “Da Rocinha 4,” titled “Kalimba Funk” has a similarly hard-to-sit-still-to sound.
On his twitter account, Sango explained his focus on Brazilian music writing, “My Brazilian series has always been about the people and their culture. I’m just a black american drawing similarities and [reconnecting] the dots back to the USA. Black music belongs to black people.”
“Da Rocinha 4” drops Sep. 25.
