Something In The Water has returned and heads to Washington, DC, this time. This Juneteenth Weekend (June 17th to June 19th), Pharrell Williams’ music festival, produced by Redrock Entertainment and Live Nation, will see artists and fans come together to celebrate art, culture, diversity, community-wide unification, and of course, music. Happening at the district’s Independence Avenue and adjacent streets, the empowerment-focused celebration’s extensive roster will see performances from Pharrell & Phriends, Ashanti, Lil Baby, Chloe x Halle, Jon Batiste, and many more, including those that have yet to be announced. It will also feature Go-Go musicians, including Backyard Band, Rare Essence, and Sound of The City.

“Something In The Water is a Black solution (LOVE) for a systemic issue, and this year we are taking our celebration to a higher platform – the nation’s Capital during Juneteenth Weekend,” Williams expressed in a statement. “We want to show the world that there is Something In The Water across the whole DMV, and I want to continue to bring awareness to the greatness within these communities and invite large corporations to show up for the people. DC has always been a deep inspiration to me as a person and a musician. It is the land where Go-Go Music was birthed which has provided so much for our people. Our sponsors continue to go the extra mile to show that Something In The Water is so much more than a festival. The goodwill we generate is a defining trait of who we are. We will always have the hottest artists, but to pair that energy with these brands showing up for the community is what makes this festival a vehicle for change.”

The festival, which started in 2019 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, continues to spotlight and uplift communities across the DMV while striving to fight systemic issues for historically marginalized communities related to opportunities in education, business, and jobs. “If you’re celebrating music, if you’re celebrating Black excellence, if you’re drawing attention to the people who have dedicated their lives to knocking down barriers and uplifting our communities — then there is no better place to do that than in Washington, DC,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser. “We are proud to be working with Pharrell to bring Something In The Water to DC for Juneteenth weekend. DC is open, and we are ready to celebrate.”

Leading nonprofit organization XQ Institute, whose mission is to better the “high school experience” for students in the United States, will host interactive, community-centered events at this year’s festival, spotlighting XQ’s emerging partnership with DC Public Schools. They will also commemorate the 2022 graduating class of high school students nationwide. Something In The Water’s concluding date on Sunday, June 19th will host a free Pop-Up Church Service from a stage in West Potomac Park, home of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, with the lineup soon to be announced.

Three-day passes for Something In The Water 2022 will be available for purchase starting April 30th at 10 AM local time on its official website.

Those who purchased passes for previous years now have an exclusive presale opportunity until today, April 28th, at 10 AM ET.

Virginia residents will have special access to a “Virginia Locals Only” presale this Friday, April 29th, from 10 AM ET to 5 PM ET. Residents can purchase festival passes in person at the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater at the Virginia Beach box office (restricted to VA zip codes), with fees waived for in-person purchases.
