NEXT WAVE: Santorini
Seven photographers and artists travel the globe, charting out the best of swim
For VMAN 43, we enlisted seven photographers and artists to travel the globe to capture the best of spring swimwear. For your first taste of the series, venture with us to Santorini, where photographer Alvaro Beamud Cortes captures a DSQUARED2 swim piece and more against the deepest of blue oceans.
Shot on the dormant volcano, of Santorini, photographer Alvaro Beamud Cortes reveals his inspiration surrounding the landscape. “I have a weakness for volcanic islands. I feel like they always have a special energy, something between esoteric and overpowering that makes me feel good,” said Cortes.
He continues, “In my pictures, I try to represent people I would like to be or situations I would like to be in. The combination of dark landscapes and the summer is not always the idea of a holiday that we have in mind, but in these images, it’s definitely that contrast that makes me feel that I would like to be there.”
