Superstar Gets a Modern Look with Prada Collab

Prada and adidas Originals unveil a reimagined Superstar.

Prada and adidas Originals unveil a completely redesigned and modernized Superstar shoe. The reveal marks the latest collaboration between the two powerhouse brands.

Superstar arrives at the intersection of luxury-goods and sportswear. First created and launched in 1969, the shoe has become a staple of unisex design. Now arriving in three distinct colors — monochrome black, white with black and chrome silver with white — Superstar reinvents itself with a modern Prada look.

“Executed by Prada’s footwear specialists, fusing the lexicon of luxury with the language of high-performance sportswear in a style of shoe that has always been, in and of itself, unique and groundbreaking,” Prada and adidas Originals said in a joint statement.

The full grain-leather shoe is made in Italy with a triple-stripe, trefoil, and rubber shell toe. Prada and adidas’ logo is embroidered onto the tongue of every produced shoe next to a heat-stamped “Made in Italy” staple.

Each colored shoe incorporates adidas’ iconic three stripes onto the side of the Superstar. The stripes are less visible on Prada’s monochrome black shoe, but the silver and black on white shoes deeply define the stripes.

Prada and adidas Originals released their first footwear creation earlier this year. The success of that all-white Superstar served as a catalyst for the now launching trio-colored Superstar.

Superstar will launch September 8th online and in-stores. Buyers can head to any worldwide Prada boutique or adidas flagship store. The shoe will also be available online at Prada and adidas’ website.
