Tame Impala Reveals ‘Innerspeaker Memories’, A Short Film on the Recording of ‘Innerspeaker’

Tame Impala aka Kevin Parker releases short film including never-before-seen footage for the 10 year anniversary of his debut album “InnerSpeaker”

Ten years after Tame Impala aka Kevin Parker released his debut album “InnerSpeaker,” he’s releasing InnerSpeaker Memories. The short film, captured by Matt Sav and edited by Alex Haygarth, features the halcyon days of the debut album as well as never-before-seen footage from the recording of “InnerSpeaker” at Wave House Studio in Western Australia.

The short film includes Parker’s recollections of recoding during intense storms while their roof was leaking, footage of Parker playing his guitar on the studio’s balcony, and Parker and his touring members practicing and creating his signature psychedelic sound.

As a writer and producer Parker has collaborated with The Weeknd, Travis Scott, SZA, Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Kanye West, Kali Uchis, Theophilus London, Miguel, A$AP Rocky and more.

For the tenth anniversary of its release, Tame Impala is releasing a deluxe, 4LP reissue of the debut album. A press release writes, “Recorded in 2009 in Western Australia, InnerSpeaker was Parker’s first full-length missive and an explosive invitation into what would become his inimitable psych-tinged world.”

The expanded deluxe edition features singles “Solitude is Bliss,” “Lucidity,” and “Expectation” as well as a collage of album sketches, an unearthed side-long jam, new mix of tracks off the original album, instrumentals, and a deluxe 40-page booklet.
