Tell Your Friends About The Weeknd

THE WEEKND'S MUSIC VIDEOS ARE MORE THAN JUST EYE CANDY; THERE'S A MESSAGE THERE TOO.

THE WEEKND'S MUSIC VIDEOS ARE MORE THAN JUST EYE CANDY; THERE'S A MESSAGE THERE TOO.

With the release of Abel Tesfaye's aka The Weeknd's third music video for his forthcoming album Beauty Behind the Madness, a narrative crystallizes. "Tell Your Friends" sees Tesfaye literally bury himself alive and then gun down the devil he meets in "The Hills" (to whom he later sold his soul for fame in "Can't Feel My Face." The singer isn't afraid of being honest about his drug-riddled past, and hard times growing up in Scarborough, Ontario, but is he finally putting it all behind him? It certainly seems so, at least at first, but as Tesfaye gains more and more success it seems he might be saying something else. Instead of destroying his demons and burying his past, here he might be metaphorically taking Satan's crown. After all, The Weeknd has always called himself the "King of the Fall."
