Tennis Pro Carlos Alcaraz Shows Off His Calvins
For the newest “Calvins or Nothing” campaign, the star athlete strips it down
By now, the “Calvins or Nothing” series has gained national notoriety. With brooding black-and-white images, the Calvin Klein image campaign asks stars of popular culture to strip down. Baring all to see, these celebrities stun in their Calvin Klein underwear. The photos are intimate and gripping, encapsulating a sense of luxe sexuality that the brand attempts to emulate. Recently, the underwear retailer has shifted its gaze toward athletes. Whether it be Trent Alexander-Arnold or Richarlison, brute athletes are lining up to show off their toned physiques for the campaign. The newest addition to the collection? Tennis pro and number-one singles player, Carlos Alcaraz.
Even if you haven’t heard Carlos Alcaraz’s name, you’ve certainly seen him play. The Spanish tennis star has won six ATP Tour singles titles and is currently ranked as the best singles player in the world. This number-one ranking made him the youngest to achieve the title, scoring it at the ripe age of 19. While he recently withdrew from the Australian Open due to a hamstring injury, Alcaraz remains one of the top dogs in professional tennis.
Shot by Gray Sorrenti, the “Calvins or Nothing” campaign features Alcaraz undressing down to his underwear, flexing in different directions to show off his incredible figure. Sporting the Calvin Klein Modern Cotton, Cotton Stretch, and Cotton Classic Underwear, Alcaraz reps the brand name proudly. Plus, as he strips down his Calvin Klein Classic Straight denim jeans, Sorrenti adds some motion to the campaign imaging. The results are an enchanting set of images that represent both Alcaraz and the Calvin Klein brand well.
Calvin Klein has certainly struck gold with this campaign model. They seem to have a social trademark on black-and-white images, creating a series of campaigns so singular that it can be recognized by thousands of eyes on aesthetics alone. That is ultimately the goal of these image campaigns, being to strike the national consciousness. With the addition of Alcaraz to the series, Calvin Klein demonstrates the seismic brand capital they have grown.
