The “Black Panther” Sequel Reportedly Set to Start Filming

Though not yet confirmed, here’s what we know about “Black Panther 2” thus far.

Following an incredibly difficult year, Marvel Studios will reportedly begin filming a highly anticipated Black Panther 2 in Summer 2021.

After making waves (and billions in the box office) in 2018, Black Panther has become a fan-favorite and staple in the Marvel-verse, with fans anxiously awaiting the next installment.

In the wake of Chadwick Boseman’s passing, supporters as well as cast and crew have pondered the future of the franchise. Unsure of what to do with Boseman’s beloved character T’Challa, Marvel Studios hopes to honor Chadwick and his character in the next film.

“We’re taking a little time to see how we continue the story and how to honor this chapter of what has unexpectedly happened to us, so painful and terrible to be honest. Chadwick wasn’t only a wonderful human being, every day of the five years we spent together, but also, I believe, that what he did as a character elevated us as a company, and has left his moment on history…We have to really think about what we’re going to do next and how, and decide how we’re going to honor the franchise,” says Victoria Alonso, executive Vice President of production at Marvel.

In some more positive news for the future of the franchise, Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, and Angela Bassett will all reprise their roles in the sequel, with Tenoch Huerta joining the cast. Though the sequel’s storyline isn’t yet known, we’re all looking forward to honoring Chadwick Boseman’s legacy in the Black Panther sequel.
