Warner Bros. has released the second official trailer for the upcoming film The Goldfinch. Based on the 2014 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction winner and New York Times best-selling novel by Donna Tartt, the film tells the story of how one tragedy changed the course of 13-year-old Theodore Decker's life. The film grapples with themes of "grief and guilt, reinvention and redemption and even love," words that appear in the official trailer. Throughout the course of Theo's life, he holds onto The Goldfinch, a painting of a bird, representing his hope.

Theo Deck and Mrs. Barbour, played by Ansel Elgort and Nicole Kidman respectively, lead the star-studded cast alongside Sarah Paulson, Jeffrey Wright, and Finn Wolfhard. Brooklyn director and BAFTA Award winner, John Crowley, guides the cast through the screenplay written by Peter Straughan.

The Goldfinch is expected to open in theaters on September 13, 2019. In the meantime, check out the second trailer below.
