The Return of Versace In Milan
On June 18th, Versace confidently returned to Milan to execute their exclusive Men’s Spring-Summer 2023 Collection.
After many quiet seasons, Versace returned to the Milan runway to exhibit their latest Men’s Spring-Summer 2023 collection. Walking the line between unexpected juxtapositions-fun and formal, bravado and sensitivity, the collection was centered around the reinvention of the brand’s emblematic Medusa. Baroque and pop—fully reflective of a Versace Man who embodies the statement he wants to make.
“When I work, I think of Generation Z and the freedom they have in not being afraid to mix contrasting pieces together. Pop-art meets classicism—contrast like this is everything to me, it makes you think and feel.” – Donatella Versace
With Versace being the final show of the day, the stunning and intimate spectacle was played out in the courtyard of Versace’s family palazzo in Milan, echoing the influence of their interior design line prevalent throughout the collection. Models navigated through the sky-high pillars of the courtyard, parading urns, vases, saucer earrings, and detachable cup belts.
Oversized silhouettes give a sense of freedom, and skin-tight tops have unmatched Versace allure. The signature Versace diamond slashes through pants capture a feeling of purposeful disruption, while precise cut-away details across fitted tops enhance the male physique. Python print leather was chosen as an alternative to exotic skins, and leather-look styles were crafted in eco-sustainable latex, affirming Versace’s continued steps towards planet preservation.
With a new generation of Versace Men represented on the runway, the emphasis on the collection’s youthful openness, optimism, and energy is profuse. The sons of Versace runway icons Mark Vanderloo, Helena Christensen, Andre van Noord, Carla Bruni, Megan Douglas, and Angela Lindvall present the collection, combining brand DNA with their own fresh attitudes.
Re-energized graphic prints in pop-colors feature across shirts and t-shirts, creating new icons from Versace visual signatures. The objects from the Versace Home collection are carried as prized possessions and a further demonstration of the inner workings of the Versace world. Colors across the collection are stunningly bright, with the suiting in bi-color stripes and neon, metallic jackets, and orange, blue, and crisp off-white coming-together for overall quality of freshness.
La Medusa Hobo Repeat, an archival Versace hobo bag presented in a new re-edition, features an XL size that wraps around the shoulder. Shoes, bags, and accessories include metallic formal shoes, diamond-slashed tote bags, and printed python leather styles.
