The Return of Wales Bonner for Adidas

A colorful lineup of ribbed tees, checked pants and re-vamped sneakers

Following their Fall/Winter 2020 link-up, Wales Bonner and Adidas Originals reunited for a new collaborative feat. This latest capsule builds on the British designer’s exploration of the diasporic connections between Britain and the Caribbean.

Their first meeting of minds for Autumn/Winter 2020 “Lovers Rock” reflected the London’s British-Jamaican community in seventies, where this latest drop entitled “Essence” explores the early eighties origination of dancehall music in Jamaica.

For this lineup — which debuted at the designer’s Spring/Summer 2021 presentation — Wales Bonner infuses iconic Adidas looks with rich references. There is a heightened focus placed on tailoring, reimagining 70s/80s era pieces including shorts, t-shirts, and tracksuits that have been re-vitalized with vintage cut lines, mesh, rich ribs and check prints.

“Offering elevated sportswear classics with an Afro-Caribbean, luxury spirit. Hybrid tracksuits, nostalgic trainers and relaxed tailored styles reverberate with the elegant codes of the Wales Bonner house,” captioned on the Wales Bonner instagram. ⠀

The collection also introduces re-vamps for the Adidas Samba and Nizza silhouettes, the former arriving in two black leather designs, each with the quintessential three stripe branding, and the latter shoe takes shape in black, purple or white.

The collaboration will be available via adidas.com on March 26.
