The Skateroom x Yoshitomo Nara Collection is Here

The youth-empowering skateboarding organization is celebrating the legendary Japanese artist’s retrospective at LACMA.

This week, The Skateroom unveiled their latest collaboration with Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), consisting of one standalone piece and two sets of three skate decks.

Entitled “Peace Girl,” “Alone in the Wind,” and “Untitled,” The Skateroom x Yoshitomo Nara project depicts pastel-hued children with gaping eyes reminiscent of Japanese manga. Yoshitomo Nara’s blend of Japanese pop culture and western influences are featured along the surfaces of these skate decks, conveying his signature direction of sweet yet sinister visuals.

The partnership is in celebration of LACMA’s retrospective on Yoshitomo Nara — an installment weaving through over three decades of the artist’s work. Through this project, The Skateroom will be donating a portion of its sales to global initatives that empower youth through education and skateboarding.

The Skateroom x Yoshitomo Nara edition is now available online. View the dynamic Japanese-styled collection below, and visit The Skateroom’s website here.
