The Weeknd Drops “After Hours” Track

The multi-award winning singer released the title song of his upcoming fourth album.

After much anticipation, The Weeknd unveiled his new single, “After Hours,” along with the release date of his album via the same name. The Weeknd first introduced the project’s cover art on social media Tuesday night, followed by the midnight arrival of “After Hours.” Other tracks, including the previously-released “Heartless” and “Blinding Lights,” will drop March 20.

Set at track No. 13, “After Hours” immerses listeners in a somber tone evocative of The Weeknd’s R&B style from the 2010s. With muted sounds of city life in the background, the track possesses dark connotations of anguish and melancholy.

In the first verse, he sings: “Your body next to me / Is just a memory / I’m fallin’ in too deep, oh / Without you, I’m asleep / It’s on me, only me, oh / Talk to me, without you, I can’t breathe.”

On Instagram, The Weeknd posted a photograph of his face smeared in blood with the caption, “Album Cover (New Track Tonight).” In celebration of his birthday week, listen to the titular track of After Hours below.
