Tommy Hilfiger And Shawn Mendes Debut Sustainability Partnership

Tommy Hilfiger has unveiled its new global partnership with Shawn Mendes as part of its ongoing sustainability project.

Tommy Hilfiger is continuing its journey towards greater sustainability. This time, with the announcement of its new Play It Forward partnership starring Shawn Mendes. As part of the alliance, the collaboration sees the Canadian-native singer-songwriter sporting pieces from its entirely sustainable, introductory Classics Reborn collection for the Summer 2022 season. The line includes quintessential looks from Hilfiger’s 1985 Program one, including a burgundy polo made from organic cotton, denim produced using 20% post-consumer recycled cotton, and more.

“Shawn’s not only a multitalented musician — he also represents a new generation of Futuremakers who understand the need for action,” Tommy Hilfiger expressed in a press statement. “By joining forces with Shawn to learn, share and innovate, we can build upon what we’ve already achieved and take our sustainability journey to the next level. While we recognize we still have a long way to go, together we can build even more awareness to make a positive, lasting impact.”

With the campaign, Mendes will wear additional, sustainable, custom-made Tommy Hilfiger styles throughout his Wonder: The World Tour, which kicks off its U.S. leg on June 27th in Portland, Oregon, and continues in the U.K. and Europe the following May. Tommy Hilfiger will also donate $1 million to efforts to mitigate and offset the environmental impact of the tour.

In April, Mendes took to Instagram to share that he and his team have created a comprehensive sustainability program for the musical voyage to become “fully climate positive.” He also shared statistics for how the tour continues to meet its goals, such as how it has lessened its “environmental footprint and carbon emissions by 50% per show” than his last productions. Next year, the Summer of Love singer and Tommy Hilfiger will introduce a co-designed capsule for the Spring 2023 season featuring styles that reimagine brand signatures while scaling material recycling innovations.
